Ms. Swearingen grew up in Estes Park, Colorado. She earned a BA in Literature at the University of Colorado (Boulder) in 1995, also earning a BA in Fine Arts at the same time.
From 1996 to 2003 she worked as an administrator for the Faculty Assembly at the University of Colorado in Boulder, working her way up from an administrative assistant to an administrative position and gaining extensive knowledge of the university system and faculty governance.
Ms. Swearingen earned her law degree at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and for the majority of her law school career served as a law clerk at the firm then known as Cohen Horner, LLP.
With Mark Cohen, she is the co-author of an lengthy article soon to be published in Causes of Action on Cause of Action to Establish Liability of Corporate Director or Officer for Corporations's Wrongful Conduct.
Ms. Swearingen is a member of the American Bar Assocation and the ABA's Forum on Franchising.
